we clean eyes out straight after each dig but over the years the eyes still get damaged and if the dog gets plenty of digging over a long career the eyes usually first thing too give up on them even tho they may still be healthy and fit

i had bother last season with one dog eyes anytime he worked a sandy earth fella told me too use the cream that s used too treat mastitis (forgive the spelling )in cattle comes in a sort of plastic syringe type container cant remember the name of it tho it cleared them up everytime

that is lactating cow/dry cow... good stuff.

rock we ALWAYS got fairy liquid bottles of water in the bag and straight after every dig the dog eyes are cleaned/swilled out using water, never had any problems with dogs going blind so it might be worth you trying that in the future...thats if you didnt do it already. can i just ask did you clean the dogs eyes straight after the dig or did you wait till you got home?

when back home as this earth is on the door step, literally

forget a nearby stream or pond you never know whats been in there it COULD do more harm than good IMO even though i have done it in the past. 4 or 5 fairy liquid bottles of water dont add much weight into the bag, its something i wouldnt really want to go without... its always handy to have to clean a dog after a dig too and also good to give them a drink out of. the reason why we use fairy liquid bottles is because you can squirt it into the eyes to get any crap out, without the bottle crumpling up and being no good for the next time.
