mates & work

Who has ever hired a good mate to help them at work?

I hired one of my pals to labour for me and I really wish i got somebody else to help me, all he's done is take some wallpaper off the walls and took two radiators off the wall (which took him 1 hour!!!!) I asked him to clean my buckets out so i could get a mix on all he did was empty the plaster out! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Depends on the mate you employ. Some people are just programed to try and do as little as possible at work as possible and be as much of a pain in the arse as they can, even if they dont mean to. I have taken people on or given people a chance in the past becaue 'they are a mate' and looked at it as they need a chance and they will sort themselves out and regretted it.

But..as long as you are employing people because they are the right people for the work and not because they are mates then it should be OK. But i have found that even good mates who i thought were sound can turn into total c**ts when work is involved.

Took a mate once, he was chasing out Walls with hammer and bolster after the grinder. Within an hour he had blisters the size of golf balls on his hands and then at lunch he layed down infront of everyone on site and went to sleep the c**t!!

haha will never forget my first day labouring as a sparkys mate for my dad, here you go son as he hands me the lump hammer n boulster (no grinder) get on with this this and this, didnt complain and got on with it till i physically couldnt lift the hammer, then he comes walking in with the wraggler and hoover attachment, here ee go son heres the easy way he says while handing me the breaker, :censored: said he done it to show me what he went through as an apprentice, lets just say im glad technology has evolved
