How many miles do you travel in a season

Hello all.

 

Is it the same for most of us..i have a few little bits of permission to go at but none of it is local..the nearest is 30 miles away and the others are as far as 70 miles away.

 

I go out local for a walk day/night just to keep the dogs happy,but don't really have much to go at local.

 

I also travel over 300 miles round trip on a regular basis to have outings with a few mates on their patches..sometimes i go quite often if the weather permits. (2 times this last week,I'm knackered)

 

I have done some serious traveling in the last couple of years finding new spots and meeting other moochers.

 

One day i want to live somewhere i can walk out of my door and be in the middle of game central.... some people don't know how lucky they are to live close to good land.

Or maybe get myself a hunting lodge somewhere for the winter,where i can go and stay for a few days at a time... now that would be nice..LOL. one of my mates has been on the same permission for over 25 years and he now has his own caravan parked up in one of the woods on the land...he goes to work and when he,s finished he goes to the land and stays there all weekend and every day off..in fact he,s there more than he,s at work usually..LOL.

yeh you dont need a lodge,,, as you say carravan,, one of my farms has carravans, often thought about buying one , and leaving it up there, you can get a half decent one on the bay, for £500.

 

Miles:::: feck knows , alot, 250 round trip to the dales, got mates in lancs, that travel to the flat land at least once a week, there doing the same 2 hours driving 100+ miles each way.,,,

 

if you love the sport and have the time away from work , you will travel

got a few places local I can go keep dog ticking over and get them fit using the contours of the land but when want a proper night then for me it's anywhere from an hour to a 2 1/2 hr drive one way but its worth it totally,

Normally travel between to 100 miles doesnt bother me i always get a good hunt

3 hours at least ..each way for me,,then usually a serious walk for a good few hours,then back in the car...12 hour shift at least..But I love it.. I would do it everyday if i could.. imagine getting paid to hunt,and being able to do it for a job..I'd go down the job center and fill out the form... lamping on minimum wage would do me...LOL. or ferritting on Time and a half...LOL..happy days.

i can drive 10 mins up the road for a quik run or a couple of hours up to the fen, it dosnt bother me how far i travel as long as theres something to run. most of the time tho its about 60 mile a night 3 nights a week.

walk out the gate across the back lane and i'm on mine mate, but i have one about 5 mile away, walk there and back!

Thousands but nowhere near as many as i used too, used to manage several hundred a week but fuel is too expensive, especially in a truck that does 25mpg.............

Thoosands and thoosands

 

I have to drive 140 miles each week just to get from where I stay at work to my home. Then I have permission anything from jumping a hedge at the back to a couple of hundred miles away.

Getting good digging ground is not easy so putting in the miles is the only way to do it.
