Don't bike until the skeleton has finished growing. You shouldn't try and muscle a dog up until its bones have all grown out. And when you do, don't go flat out: trotting on hard roads is quite enough for any joints, adult or youngster. Different to running around on grass: even when the ground is hard, grass land is softer than tarmac or concrete.

I take pups out for around an hour at a time from 4-5 months, but for half of that time they are on the lead if they are the sort to run around like loons all the time. Depends on the breeding, where you take the dog, and what it does whilst its out. I'd concentrate on having fun for the moment. Plenty of time to think about fitness later, and most pups do enough to keep themselves as they should be.
