Boarder how the f**k is my dog got doberman in it aww its black and tan from the saluki. First few times is a joke but f**k me you just keep going on about it.

there is greyhound in the make up of dobermans already is that where they get their smooth coats and streamlined shape? i knew of a pure doberman years ago that could catch hares single handed, i'm guessing their intelligence and fire could add a lot to a lurcher maybe lacking in coat a wee bit for my taste but could be handy enough

 

Let me assure you Dobermanns are thick as f**k and certainly have no fire, judge is quite correct, nervousness is rife in the breed..........

 

 

Bit of a sweeping generalisation of a breed, that Simmo !!!This one was far from thick, had pleanty of fire, and not a sign of nervousness !

I owned her for over 12 years, she was bred in Holland from German stock, I got her in Saudi and brought her back here. As for the "Urban Myth" of them turning on their master, well, she never turned on me, or anyone else for that matter ! I probably trusted her more than any other dog I've owned.

Ya i agree Chartpolski ..Its like all breeds theres good and theres bad..I heard before of two doberman who trapped a robber in a shed while their owner was gone away for the night..they just stood there holding the robber in the corner of the shed and wouldnt let him budge..would be very interesting to see what a doberman grey x collie grey would be like

mate of mine had an accidental litter in the early 90s his track dog caught the doberman bitch..he kept a pup a small bitch about 24"..she was like the wind mate..fast as fook and endless stamina..looked like a saluki type cross.. she was a very good looking dog..she had a few bunnys and a couple of long ears but died of the dreaded Parvo virus at about 15 months old..Another pup went to a pet home. ..that was a dog..he was massive ..about 28 inch and built like a brick shithouse..he was never tested but did a few rabbits and the odd other thing on his walks locally with his owner..it was said he would have made a good dog for the obvious larger quarry in the right hands,But sadly he was never allowed out to play with us in them days..lol.

Don't know if they would be any use these days mate with the poor quality doberman strains that they are nowadays.

Wouldn't mind seeing one, never heard of the x personally but I've heard of and seen stranger.

interesting mate cheers..have been thinking about that cross for awhile now i was curious because of the dobermans shape something similar to the greyhound..pity about the parvo mate its horrible..coulda been bred with something like a whippet hound or something..really mix up the breeds lol..a right all rounder

was up caithness in late 90s and met two blokes with what they said were doberman x geyhounds and they swore by them as deer dogs mind you i never seen them get any but was asured they were well up to taking them and they said they only bred them as they couldnt get a doberman dog to mate their bitch the dogs didnt half look racey and keen on lamp

Perhaps matey, i guess if i owned a good dog and somebody made the comment i did, i'd be a little cheesed so i apologise BUT as you have said, yours was from European lines and came form Saudi, the vast majority of dobermanns are weak nerved, there are still a few good ones in Europe but these are like very rare, a mate imported a couple of dobes from Holland, they were high drive BUT all their drive was nervous high strung aggression, the would look great on a sleeve if you applied pressure, all teeth and snot BUT when they had to work away from their handler at distance, you could see their balls shrink, and there nerve driven aggression also meant they weren't adverse to giving the odd nip when your back was turned and weren't stable working in certain situations.

 

I apologise for the sweeping statement matey, BUT on another thread i stated Groneldahls were total shit, thats one i'll stand by

I think if you added some dogge de bordeax blood this would add some jaw power to this cross but might be a bit bulky for long ears

there was a hawian pig hunter on the nz monteria forum awhile ago im sure he had pics of pups that were i think dobe/saluki cross possibly some pointer in there cant remember exactly.

i have to agree to a post on the doberman breed being very nervous and touchy,probably because the breeders spoilt them in the 70s &80s. my dad owned one and it was a nervous wreck ,personally i wouldnt cross one with a greyhound.on the other hand someone mentioned alsation x greyhound, a few lads i knew ran them and they done the buissiness on the big stuff and they kept there gaurding instincts to ward there owners muuch to the despair of a few keepers who tried it on with them -silly buggers
