Simoman 110
So, back to what I asked, if they are well fed and housed, will they lay through the winter ? Cheers. Yes charts, go get some warren hybrids from your local livestock auction, very cheap and will lay during winter........
gnipper 6,426
Mine live out with pheasants (practically feral) eating whatever they want supplemented with layers pellets, go in the shed to sleep and lay as they please and never get pampered but they still lay in the winter so if you get some and keep them warm and fed well they'll do ok for you. chartpolski 23,272
Well, we bought 8 P.O.L. hens today, 4 for me and MLB is taking 4 down south when she finishes her visit up here. I'll give them a go over the winter; they'll be well fed and housed, so I'll see how they get on and maybe get some more in the spring. The farmer we got them of is only a couple of miles away and seems realy helpful, and has also given me permission to ferret his land... so a good result all round !!! Cheers.
