scothunter 12,609
as consumers we have to take partial blame for our quest for oil.i agree our pursuit to squeeze and thieve oil from whatever source we can find on this planet.we are jumping in bed with nations who depise our very existence, just so we can get that black gold.is it worth it in the end.i suspect it will be our demise.as for the islam radicals.living here.Well i dont think oil is even in thier thinking.they are brain washed extremists who have this grand vision of a muslim nation on this island.and the world.its just delusion on thier part.if history has taught us anything its no one can control the globe and all its people.some have came close, but it all go tits up eventually.im not naive, ther no way we can boot out all muslims from the uk,far to complicated to even consder it.however we can and should stop more from entering, and repatriate those who have no right to be here.also stop the radical preachings from those imans and thier followers.i think that is a national disgrace that we allow incidents like this to happen on our streets.yes freedom of speech is something we all should hold dear, but even that should have have a a line in the sand.cross it and you will be stopped,no matter the consequences.we live under potential attack from islam for our foregihn policies,i see no reason why we cant enforce stricter laws on preaching death to the west nutters.on the home front.

Born Hunter 17,798
Pakistan doesn't have any oil!! They dont have to have any. Look at the bigger picture, strategically they are a good country to chum up with.

I was going to edit to say that the oil wasn't the reason the came but yeh I agree that to kick em out or to ban the burka might upset the oil producing nations. I strongly believe we as a nation should be investing ALOT more money in R&D for new technologies! The likes of the US, France and Russia etc should be doing the same. In 100 years things are gonna be pretty fecking desperate if we have'nt made some serious advances in technology. We have the scientists and the engineers, we need the f*****g time and funding!!!

Spot on mate. We're one of the world leaders when it comes to nuclear fusion research. They're nearly there but can't ever seem to get the proper funding needed to truly take it up to the next level and make it economically viable. Too many vested interests in keeping things the way they are I reckon..

Too many vested interests in keeping things the way they are I reckon.. Trouble with nuclear fusion reactor technology is it's always "50 years in the future", lol. But it is the future! Its got MASSIVE potential and I genuinely believe it will save the human race. I dont have much faith in wind/solar etc but they will certainly play their part and again need funding for R&D. On the subject of fussion technology, as you say scientifically we are world leaders. The yanks are trying it their way with lasers but scientifically they are behind us in laser technology. Recently I read about a US-Brit collaberation with our laser experts and their nuclear experts to try to make a bit of progress! Maybe in 50 yrs it'll only be another 50 yrs untill we might have a 0% efficient reactor that they keep promising us! Funding and national support is needed and it wont be such a joke! I don't know why we're bothering with wind and solar in this country. The only people benefiting are the companies who make and install the devices with massive government subsidies. We have some of the biggest tides in the world here, surely it would make some sense to invest heavily in trying to capture even a small part of the potential energy in them, either by way of tidal barrages or some kind of underwater turbines.. The tidal races round some of the local islands here are immensely powerful, and some of the ones on the Scottish west coast are even more so. If just a fraction of their collective energy was harnessed we'd be laughing. In my opinion, along with fusion, tidal power is the only true, viable, clean & reliable energy source available to us here in the UK..
scothunter 12,609
have to agree nuclear power is the future.it may not be without its dangers, but then neither is oil lol also there a lot of by products we get from oil.but im sure mankind is clever enough to come up with alternatives. Im just guessing now but IMO the whole solar and wind thing is simply a government stunt to appease the tree hugging climate change greenies. The technology for them is around already and they are simple things. Tidal power isnt as quite as easy for em but like you say its gotta be more worth while. I've often wondered if nuclear fusion would get more of a chance if it wasnt termed 'nuclear'. Whenever I mention it to a greeny they shit their pants and preach how we should be going for renewables and not nuclear. When I explain to them the huge difference between fission and fussion they dont have a come back, its just a natural oposition to anything nuclear.
