river clyde n avon scotland

hello i am lookin for any tips on were to go on the avon or the clyde for grayling and what flys to use any tips or advise would be a really big help because i and really lookin forward to a good few days fly fishing on my return from afghanistan next month, or if anyone would be up for a wee day out give me a shout and am sure wee could get a few wee days out on my return many thanks gary

If your looking to catch some good grayling you would be better fishing the clyde, there is grayling in the avon but not the same quality as the clyde.

The upper clyde is were you will catch the bigger grayling, there is grayling on most parts of the river. I really enjoy fishing the upper clyde, eg. Addington area.

My old man fishes for grayling mostly on the Earn but has fished th Clyde and the Avon and has a current Clyde permit so give him a shout when you get back PM me and I'll give you the phone number we're just down the road from EK..

As other people have said there are grayling all over the clyde the best places i have found are from rosebank to crossford.

The river Avon used to be alright years ago.If you are using flies i would use a red tag but you can also trot maggots down.You cannot shuffle anymore as it would upset the river bed.Hope that helps
