A DAY ON THE FLY

Recommended Posts

I decided on saturday to have a day out fly fishing ,me and my mate set off for witton castle which is based in the north east about 20 miles outside newcastle. When we got to the lake the conditions were good and we seen people landing fish and thought it was a good sign.We set up and missed a few takes in the first hour and my mate lost one at the net but then the wind picked up strong and started blowing a hooly  .We then moved to a more sheltered part of the lake and i got a fish off 2 pound on a cats whisker :clapper: .We fished on till 2 o clock but by then my mate had had enough of the strong winds and decided to go back to the car for 40 winks. i said ill fish on for half an hour and we will call it a day, i watched a lad land a fish next to me and i asked him what he got it on he took it on a cats whisker , so it was back out with the cats whisker. I casted it out and gave it time to sink as i retrieved it i was hit hard :icon_eek: and then it took off i new it was a nice fish it stayed deep and gave me a good 5 to 10 minute battle , it was a nice rainbow off 8 pound 10 ounces and in good condition ;) .I was well chuffed and glad i stook it out a nice end to a hard day :victory: .
