Guest bezza
What about a fallow buck? Pre- ban has anybody seen a single dog take an adult buck? Quote Link to post
Guest Lurchers2006
If you read WEX 's post properly he says the 21'' wheaton x took fallow nothing about reds, he then said that he seen a 23'' whippet/grey take a red hind so the picture he put up is right as he says taken with the wheaton x. CHALKWARREN thats some picture did you take it yourself? Quote Link to post

david2363 42
Dobby - Every time a dog catches something , wether it be a Rabbit a Hare , a Fox or a Deer - the quarry has made a mistake - - - thats how it came to be caught. The ones that don't make a mistake get away. Quote Link to post
Guest wex
If the post was correctly viewed subaruwally oops i meant willy, you would have come to the same conclusion as lurchers2006. I am not in the habit of telling lies and anyone who knows me will back me up. i have simply given an honest answer to a fellow dogmans question. And the deer pictured where fallow not red, i wouldn't be foolish enough to pass fallow off for reds. I have taken both species on numerous occasions and i think i can distinguish between them. Oh and finally great picture of the bucks in the rut. Quote Link to post

The ones that don't make a mistake get away. your dog never picked up on the run yours never out classed its pray if the dog dosnt catch it its made a mistake oh the prey didnt make a mistake no hunting with dogs is one off my passions and i wouldnt say every thing caught made a mistake though alot do dont get me wrong my dog has probably caught more on mistakes but hes also caught them out off no fault to the pray but ability of my dog thats what makes some dogs stand out and some coarses stand out keep it real ali g Quote Link to post
Guest Dale
IMO there is no rule to what size/shape/breed the dog should be , if the dog has the heart then i guess anything is possible , im not saying the smaller dog would do better than the larger but life as taught me that anything really is possible . i have a 28'' deerhound/greyhound , but does that mean it can pull deer better than a 23/24/25 '' dog , no i dont think so , the dog as to have the willingness to go up against something alot larger than itself , if it hasnt then there is no point . i dont think size ect matters . JMO though , my mates saluki bull grey is only 24'' and would beat my deerhound/greyhound hands down . Dale Edited March 20, 2007 by Dale Quote Link to post
