It wasn't just a class thing. An awful lot of people who wanted and support a total ban on hunting, could probably be described as 'lower' class. IMO and experience, ignorance is a big factor. They believe all the shit they're told by the media, about animals not needing to be controlled (and all control methods are cruel), and what they see in most of the wildlife programmes on tv where animals are given names and portrayed as having human traits etc. If only people took the time to look deeper and see the reality..... R.E "Lower class" - that was kind of my point. For the vast majority of those concerned with getting hunting banned, the real hatred seemed to be for the mounted hunts, who they saw as a bunch of "rich, posh folk, dressed in red, sipping sherry, blowing horns, riding horses and chasing a fox around with a pack of dogs until it was torn apart" (not my thoughts or words). It seemed to be a way to hit out at a tradition and culture of the 'upper class' and 'nobility'. But aye, the rest of what you say is spot on. Most of it is ignorance, for example the mistaken belief that following the ban all the foxes got to live happily ever after! Rather than be shot by the midnight cowboys! scothunter 12,609 Posted September 27, 2011 Report Share Posted September 27, 2011 slaughter houses in this country imo kill the proper way.yes we did cut thier throats years ago,but it does cause the animal stress.also its diffrent doing it in the field,than the whole process of entering a processing plant.i said earlier in another post.we do this so the animal going to slaughter isnt subjected to much stress or pain.however yet again the rules of this country are put aside for a bullshit religion and race.that does not belong on these shores.it does not suprise me in the slightest.its a barbaric religion islam anyway. i have killed hundreds,and i can honestly say the animal at the point of cutting its throat,didnt know a thing.this is not the case for haalal.animal bouncing upside down as some nutter starts reciting some bullshit,and slices its throat open as its still concious of whats going on around it.
