Interested how phoning up the police works...........? How do they know if the person phoning up has permission, they are not providing any proof over the phone and sounds to me like a very good idea for anyone wanting to poach.....

I cant see how it would work mate. Maybe in a small village where everyone knows everyone but as you say where you are it probably wouldn't even get through and you would still have the same problem even after making a phone call. Not for me i'm afraid....i've i had permission i would go and if the police turned up i would answer there questions and after they left i'd get back on with what i was doing. Its just a job after all.

I've had my fair share from the police.

You will never send the Harassment home. Reason being, they respond to peoples needs. If they turn up whilst your out lamping etc, I can bet my lambretta that they have received a call from the a member of the public. They will never disclose to you who called them.

So who is harassing you? The police, or the member/s of the public for making the calls?

Call from the public= Police attendance when practicable = Ruining your night, and yes lamps and equipment taking off you IF you cannot prove you have permission.

If you call them and explain where you will be, and what vehicles you are using, they will leave you alone. FACT!

Now the reason they ask these questions is very simple. If a member of the public reports you, they will probably have taken your reg, seen how many are on the land and give this info to the police. Now if you have already called the police prior to going out, they will see YOUR reg already log on their system and all other details you have passed onto them. They will know that nothing is suspicious and will not send anyone out.

Don't worry Lab they will know if you have permission.

Hope this helps. Hassle free is the key!

"Good evening officer just thought i give you a quick call to say that 2 off us will be lamping rabbits on old farmer Giles estate tonight. We dont have a car as we just walk but we should be finished up by 2 am. I always think its better to give you a heads up when we are out on a night and that will save you wasting anytime coming out......My name?..Oh its Micheal Mouse and my friend Minnie will be tagging along..........Thanks again!!!!"..................... :whistling:

Just struggle to get my head round it. I cant see the police knowing what farms allow lamping on there land and i cant see them knowing which people by name only have permission. Only way round that would be to have some kind of "password" that you said when phoning up.
