123456 146
Your probably the same person midland and bedlinton. As for spewing his beddy cross I'd do it in a night and it would even be a test for some dogs . ... half the test with a fox is catching prior to dispatching. Bring the dog down if you like and well see how it does. NO crying when it speys though! Quote Link to post
123456 146
Oh and obviousley the foxes will be shot for the dog to retrieve so it will be even easier than pre-ban Quote Link to post
123456 146
iv seen doubled up dogs take more stick than a single handed dog.Say for example you have one dog mouth to mouth with the fox and then the other dog pulling the fox by the arse ,well you dont have to a genius to understand what happens totally agree there mate, especially some of the harder dogs that refuse to let go of where ever they have caught it incase the other dog manages to steal it Quote Link to post

FightTheBan 1,147
The entire ethos of lurcherwork imo is sport. Pairing one dog against his worthy quarry. Double dogging removes most of the sporting element and I can't for the life of me see the appeal. Would rather shoot a fox with the rifle than double dog. That's just me though. Everyone is different. FTB Quote Link to post
brog 670
what would a good pre ban fox dog catch in a night single handed ? Quote Link to post
Macky 227
it just depends what time of the season you are on about Quote Link to post
scent 509
what would a good pre ban fox dog catch in a night single handed ? depends on the amoun of game around pal i reckon , a dog can only catch whats put in front of him.Down my way they are lamped to shit and as soon as a lamp goes on them they are gone like the clappers. Its so bad that lads thet have dogs that wont kill foxes are still running them for the sake of it and educating the foxes 1 Quote Link to post

nitestalker 28 209
when im out lamping unless im on my own we would double up on fox not because we think the dogs cant do them on there own more because we would be lucky to get a handful of foxes close enough to slip the dogs on a night out and we would both like to give are dogs a decent spin on one but when im on my own the dog i have with me will be given any fox that comes close enough same as tat lad my dogs do them single no prob if i go wit a mate double up jus to give both dogs a spin why not atb Quote Link to post

WILF 46,878
A fox would be despatched quicker by a single dog as it becomes a tug of war when doubled up ...imo if you gave a deer a hare and a fox 100yard law charlie would be the easiest caught ....but thats if the dog wants to catch it That is always the question mate, most dogs that put more than a handful of bends into one with out pulling it don't really want it. thats a bold stament to make, like saying if the dog puts more than 15 bends in a hare it dont want it Its a true statement none the less, we all like to kid ourself on sometimes but the fact is a decent enough dog will be up to its fox fast and a fully commited animal will pull that fox within 3 or 4 turns jmho.............anything more is just f*****g about, again JMHO 1 Quote Link to post
