Butler 396
A fox would be despatched quicker by a single dog as it becomes a tug of war when doubled up ...imo if you gave a deer a hare and a fox 100yard law charlie would be the easiest caught ....but thats if the dog wants to catch it That is always the question mate, most dogs that put more than a handful of bends into one with out pulling it don't really want it. Penda 3,341
ive done both i do like to see a good single handed dog and if my dogs( preban ) couldnt do a fox sigle haned i wouldnt keep then doubling up is good for bringing a dog on in my eyes but after theyve had a good few nights doubling up them should be tried solo Quote Link to post
artic 595
I knew of dogs that would take foxes single handed/paired up and kill each time. Now these are not dogs that were killing foxes every night, but were dogs that if a fox was put up in front of them would make the kill without no doubt. Quote Link to post

craigyboy 1,274
not this old chestnut again macky, have you got an inferiority complex about single handed dogs ive never doubled up,ever, slipping two 70lb lurchers on one 20lb fox and as for numbers, why double up,i go out with my mate and one dog each and when were lamping we just take turns,1st fox mine,2nd fox his,3rd mine and so on, and are the dogs fit to go out the following night...of course they are,a good lurcher takes very little time and punishment in dispatching old charlie,if your dogs taking plenty of stick when dealing wi charlie then maybe you should try rabbiting Quote Link to post

If you re read what i posted i said most dogs, and yes all runs were different but some dogs just seem to always get a gruler Same as some dogs needed to be right over the top of charlie out in the middle of a field these dogs didn't seem to catch many just on cover or even in it i wonder why?
