MissRhianL 70
What makes a good game fair? If u did ur own show would you add anything new than the norm
jsmith 103
At our show this year we had everything from Skydiving Stunt Planes to the Fire Brigade doing a full Road traffic Accident Simulation including cutting up the car to a kids talent show. But at the same time you can't forget about the most important element and why people have come in the first place The Dog Show and Racing. For me the ideal game fair / show is all about a number of key factors: 1.ALL events should be run to the highest possible standards and with complete fairness. 2. VALUE FOR MONEY: You have to give people value for their hard earned cash. this includes the price of admission, the cost of the food, the cost of the class entries Vs prizes on offer and even the price of the kids amusements.3.ENTERTAINMENT: You need to keep people entertained not everyone is going to stand all day at the show rings and the key element here for me is variety, you can never have too much going on as far as I'm concerned. Stalls for me are a big part of the entertainment factor of a show,we all love to mooch around the stalls and pick up a few bargains. Here again costs play an important role, pitch prices for stall holders have to be realistic so they can afford to give those all important bargains. 4. INCLUSION: Try to include everyone in the centre area of the show, we placed the Dogs and racing near enough slap bang in the middle and built the rest of the show around them, this I know is not always possible with the big shows but it does stop people feeling that they're being marginalised.I would also like to include as many fieldsports and country crafts as possible so that Joe Public can get a true idea of what real rural life is all about. Would I add anything for next year you better believe it, as I've said already you can never have to much going on as long as it doesn't push up the costs, better to have people going home not having seen everything then having nothing to see. Anyone that knows me would say that if NASA rang and said they'd launch the space shuttle from our show next year I'd say bring it on. These are just some of the things I take into consideration when organising our show. There are alot more experienced people on here then me who run all the top class events and I'm sure they'll be able to explain what it really takes to put on the ideal game fair /show. Rake aboot 4,936
Offer a cheap pitch to folk that did a serious discount for the show,, make it worth their while to shift some stock
The one 8,529
Aye its all about money these days costs a fortune to get in and the pitches are expensive so the traders charge a bit more for there stock its a viscous no win situation
discobandit 9
The ideal show would have to be: 1. On a large field donated free of charge 2. Low stall pitch fees (encouraging stall holders to create bargains) 3. All stalls related to Country/ Game 4. Cheap refreshments 5. Entertainment for the whole family (Really difficult) 6. Ringside/ trackside parking for the for showing/ racing 7. Cheaper entry for show/ racing people (Many never actually look around the shows) 8. Something for the people that are attending just for a look see. (Now it moves away from a Country Fair?) As I'm sat here typing this I'm realising the difficulties and problems that organisers face and I wish I hadn't have started I don't think the big shows will only ever be Country Fairs by name as they are all about profit margins and as such will always have the Double Glazing and Car Sales big boys that are often moaned about and lets face it even the Charity Shows have to make it worthwhile. Sadly it was a one off and never saw him again. He was also selling good quality leather goods.

Night Hunter 109
All the shows are too commercialised now and there are very few bargains to be had, Scone palace used to be a good fair but now it is just too expensive, Most of my gear is now bought off the net. The one 8,529
Same here but as you will know living in Scotland we get shafted on postage , So i tried to get as much as possible once a year at Scone but it a joke now you cant get what you want and the entrance price keeps going up , Good luck to them like so many of my mates i fear that this year will be my last there . What has skydiving, stunt planes and fire brigade got to do with "Gme Fairs" ? Cheers. Absolutely nothing to do with Game Fairs all to do with the entertainment side of a family orientated show. Our show is a modest affair run to try and raise a few quid for our local school. We charged €3 an adult on the gate two for €5 and stall holders were charged €5. We had approx 2000 people attend our show this year and the general consciences was that we did an OK job and that's good enough for me.

I've nothing against skydivng, etc, and I wish your show every success; but I wish "Game Fairs" were just that, and catered for the "Huntin' Shootin' Fishin' fraternity !! When a "Game Fair" charges exhorbatant prices, and is nothing more than a glorified boot sale, then it should be called a weekend market, or some other money making name... NOT a "Game Fair" !! Cheers.
