jambay5 191
Will prob get slated for this, but am thinking about getting a terrier for flushing rabbits, my question is would a terrier that had jacked on other stuff be a good choice?? that's all the dog would asked to do or do you think am better off starting with a pup. rapidjenky 97
i just got one for the exact same job mate but i got a pup to bring on. i would think a terrier that maybe wouldent go to ground would be ideal. there was one in the free section the other day would of been the right type of thing needed. darbo 4,776
i always had a terrier for bushing out to a lurcher. i would get a pup but that is only my opinion. good luck with your choice. Quote Link to post

dymented 2,220
have you thought about a spaniel you wont have to worry about them going to ground 1 Quote Link to post
poacher3161 1,766
Get a pup i have seen a lot of failed earth dogs and due to how they were brought up kept on the leash mainly so they didnt start hunting rabbits have no intrest in working cover the same as a bushing dog reared from a pup for the task. jambay5 191
Cheers lads yer was thinking pup, After agree with poacher3161 most failed dogs i have seen have been down to the way it was reared! have looked at spaniel but there not for me. really like beddys but think they are maybe to big to get into cover where i work my lurcher. thorny 100
Just bought a Jack Russell puppy bitch for the same thing. Did plenty of ringing around and found a litter of farm pups that go back generations. Mainly used for ratting but good at flushing cover. No real history of them going to ground so fingers crossed she wont. I cant do with the drama and carrying a shovel everywhere I go Quote Link to post
