Sirius 1,391
Thats some going, nice job. Robert Michem, do you think Snipe is unique or have you had others go on to that ages catching well? As I have not heard of hardly any that can do that amount at that age. Quote Link to post
robert michem 314
never add one like him mate,, nature has been good to him, some i av add get ackes and pains early in life,,, but put that to 1 side he still has that prey drive,,, at the age of nearly 11,,, iff a hares gets up in day time and it his leaving him behind,he will still run to the last place the hare was seen,, spite him being miles behind it,,,,,and not pulling of it, Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
Surely a lot has to do with the dog's ability: if he hadn't had what it takes in the first place, he wouldn't have got that good, and consequently wouldn't have had the confidence which comes from long practice. I bet he doesn't have to run far for most rabbits as he can read them so easily. Of course he couldn't have got that good without an owner who was prepared to put that amount of game in front of him either! Or look after him in the right way. My old bitch Starlight, still has a huge amount of drive, and is 10 1/2 now. She may not have had as much as Snipe, but she's the only dog I've ever had who has retained that amount of drive into old age. Still wish I'd put him over her when she was younger.
