TWOTWOTHREE 152
They are laid on their backs [bANNED TEXT],I see buzzards about but not sparrow hawks,I have loads of tunnels for the fenns,I set ten or so daily for the rats, all around the area, it's a fair size plot of land with many foul sheds , I use mk4 fenns for the rats,to be honest I don't know what I'm intending to trap but now your comments have pushed me to the stoat weasel idea, shall I tunnel trap where the duck was dragged to neat the fence? paulus 26
if you pluck around the back of the neck on the one thats still got a head you should find puncture wounds if it was a stoat. Quote Link to post
TWOTWOTHREE 152
Ok I'll look tomorrow around the neck and let on , Quote Link to post
worthy130 21
bird of prey wouldn't normally kill 2, and yoou would see where it had killed the ducks by biteing into the back of the neck. Also they wouldn't drag them through the fence. Quote Link to post
worthy130 21
lol i didn't see page 2!! if there is a stone wall nearby i would bet they were in there. Failing that look for subtle runs around the area. Tunnels covered over with soil/brash work best after all they are inquisitive little blighters keep me informed Quote Link to post
rainger 0
Looks like a classic ferret attack to me. Usually only eat the head. Live trap with a bit of rabbit covered over will do the trick if it's a ferret. Quote Link to post

FLATTOP 4,407
Might sound silly but are there any cats on the farm they love killing birds just a thought. Quote Link to post
rob190364 2,594
that's got to be one of the mustelids surely?? whatever it is looks like it's been trying to drag one of them through the bars, failed so has eaten the head. Don't see any other reason why it'd be half way through the bars. My money is on either stoat or escaped ferret. Quote Link to post
FightTheBan 1,147
Part the skin around the damaged area. You will see the tooth marks and from the spacing you could work out what it was. As a guess i would say stoat, as a fox would not have tried to drag it through the fencing like that. TWOTWOTHREE 152
Me too funny enough, but don't know wat I'm going to find when I get back from work hope ive not had another visit, When I get the culprit or should I say if I get it I'll put it up on here, what are the chances of it turning into a serial killer? or do them stoats or weasels move on?
