Odd dogs for jobs?

Recommended Posts

Friend of mine had a collie for years that would catch rabbits on the lamp with ease. As ood as most lurchers in fact. Used it to rise hares in parks aswell for the lurchers. Pre ban of course.

Know of a labxgerman wirehaired pointer that will draw and kill foxes when out with the terriers. Marks earths aswell. Pre ban of course.

Labs. . . . for hunting cover.

how does a lab go on in really thick cover? do they just push through or pull out? my uncle had a pointer x alsation that was about lab size and it used to just plough through even thick brambles, quite impressive for a big dog!

If theres something in there then my dogs will get it. They wont go in like a spaniel for the fun off it.

want to put money on that ;)

used to go ratting with my pointer, not really unusual though as most dogs can be used for ratting but he knew when they would bolt better than most dogs so was surprisingly good! Didn't mind getting bitten he was used to it from the ferrets  He managed to catch a fair few bunnies bushing about too. I think mst dogs can do most things if you have the time within reason. Don't really see the point in buying a dog specifically for something it was never meant for though...
