muddy210 34
i also use the bulldog rabbiting spade very good in sandy soil on my spots also use a standard spade thats been cut down on the blade to form a smaller digging blade 7 inch where you put your foot down to 3 inch where it digs and boy does it work i can dig down with this taking out less width to start with if that makes sense Quote Link to post
patterdalejoel 669
thanks for the pictures and info guys, very much appreciated, i have worked out that economising is not really a good option? for such a valuable tool? Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
Just another thing, i like to get down on my knees and dig, hence the short handled shovel. It gives more control, and the box always seems to over state the depths, so by using it like this, rather than standing up and using my boot to plunge it in, i feel there is less chance of cutting a stinker in two. PJ - r.e economising - if you shop around you should be able to get a decent shovel for 10-15 quid max, which evened out over a few seasons is f**k all. Quote Link to post

Tyla 3,179
Roughneck mini shovel same as Jai's, ideal for the job. Used the draper version too but dont think they're quite as good quality. Quote Link to post
