darbo 4,776
just not mentally mature enough yet. it will come in time. enjoy the pup because thats all it is. different dogs develop at different times to others. stick with it and do your best by it.this time next year you should have the makings of a good dog with sensible input from yourself.good luck. skycat 6,173
Pups often whine when they are uncertain, confused, over faced, or just unable to cope with all the information going into their brains. Some GSDs (Alsations) are often known for being whingy, stressy dogs: they have loads of drive (instinct to chase, do things) but at this age the pup won't be mentally or physically capable of doing certain tasks. Concentrate on playing with your pup: getting a good fun recall, a little retrieving, and most of all, getting it out and about with you as much as possible in different situations, teaching it to go through fences, very small jumps, meeting other dogs and people, around livestock etc. Quote Link to post

rapidjenky 97
i think it will stop mate, it was probably just stressed as it dident understand. once you got it more socialized and it matures and grows in confidence im sure it will be perfectly fine. just wait till its abit older before you start it. Absolutely: quite agree. I've had pups which whined a lot until they actually grew up and started working. Once they knew their role in life, and they were doing the job their instincts told them was a fulfilling thing to do, they calmed right down. Just keep on with confidence building play and exercises: playing tug is a good one. It's a great way to use up energy, giving a pup something to focus on and building a great bond between you: but you have to make the rules first. I'll put an article in the articles section on this when I have a moment. Quote Link to post
