wirral countryman 2,110
There are a few lads on here that I see showing their terrier's around the shows that have smart looking dogs that get well worked, the signs of work are normally there if you look closely enough,I know there are some that never see work but its all a bit of fun for the summer anyway,I've never shown a terrier in 40yrs of keeping them but I do enjoy seeing a tidy looking dog at a show especially one thats had a bit of work, there were some excellent examples on show at the midland yesterday, atb,WM 1 Quote Link to post
thomps125 49
i dont see any problem with showing working dogs, but the thing is a dog of show stands cant be (im trying to think of a correct way to say it ) badley put together as we all no there is always them top workers with overshot jaws dipped backs flat feet, but what dus that matter on the feild as for in the show ring they want dogs thsat have a all round good build ect every judge is difrent but so is every dog, i do attend shows but i also work my dogs the only thing that matters in my eyes is that my dogs do me proud weather its in the field or the ring Quote Link to post
MOO 730
I find it funny how most will travel the country for a ribbon but dont put in the miles for the graft ...another thing I find amusing is if they had a show would they graft there dog whether it be lurcher or terrier the day before the show ....there a differant breed these show lads ...and dogs 3 Quote Link to post

Big bald beautiful 1,231
only had two worth showing, didnt breed either so no credit on my part. not a big fan of shows, used to be 20-25 yrs ago but too tight to pay £10+ to get in Quote Link to post
Guest wurzil
i get sick of people saying dog shows are just a bit of fun in the summer months when in all reality its these very shows that are fukking the working terrier as a worker. true some lads attend shows who work there dogs but they are in a minority and they are still encouraging the demise of the working terrier for a "bit of fun". i used to attend alot of shows at one point in my relatavley short time into terriers but ive realised that its not a laughing matter that border terrier, lakeland terrier, russell terrier are all fukked as a breed of "working" dog because of the show nobs desperate for recognision and a red rosette, Quote Link to post
francolin 449
only had two worth showing, didnt breed either so no credit on my part. not a big fan of shows, used to be 20-25 yrs ago but too tight to pay £10+ to get in should go to small shows mate donation to get in like the scarrview hounds Quote Link to post
Dabhand 887
ive shown dogs but work comes first, i enjoy the hunt shows and the money goes to the right causes Quote Link to post
Rabbit Hunter 6,613
Showing and shows really do nothing for me. Go to one or two every summer and that's enough. If it's not the wankers talking shite, name dropping and bigging their dogs up, it's the poncey dogs that have never seen work parading around, tail high in the air looking for treats off their owner... 1 Quote Link to post
