dws1410 8
If i had asked for a new consumer unit to be fitted in a domestic property and then for a full test to be done would i be correct in saying that if the c/unit was re tested again say 6 to12 months later should the readings on the test sheet be the same as the original? Thanks
RossM 8,121
dunnno how it works with electrics. is it abit like an mot?
dws1410 8
Im of the understanding the test sheet should be the same so if i had mistakenly had the consumer unit tested twice and the readings are different some c*$nt is at the ham
mattydski 560
There may be several differences, but in general they should be the same....... Or the trend for mistakes should be similar to indicate faulty test kit... If none are the same, and the trends are different, then yes, I would say you had a problemm
dws1410 8
so lets say I have 250 that are different and the lad that gave me them is select?

Thanks In a word, Yes. 6-12 months is nothing, and nothing should have changed. However, your question is a bit vague, any more info ?? Better still post up a picture of the test sheets. darbo 4,776
over a period of 6 months i would not expect the readings to change in a ideal world. a domestic property has a maximum of 10 years between periodic tests. if it is rented it should be tested when there is a change of renter.there are factors which can cause test result changes. ie damage, wear tear, corrosion, excessive electrical loading ageing etc.it is the installation as a whole which is tested.so it is hard to say as things can go wrong. but on the other hand i have seen people just write in results without even testing. the test equipment should be calibrated.if the test results vary on a lot of the readings. i would suspect test equipment not calibrated or bullshit. you can only follow your instincts or have it tested off someone you can trust. dws1410 8
yeah I know its a bit vague i had a lad produce 250 elec certs to me over the course of a weekend now i know he's faked them up I had 3 retested today and the readings were different i have no reason to think that the other 200 odds or not the same but i have not been able to compare the test sheets myself yet. mattydski 560
Ring SELECT and ask them, they are the auditing body....and represent the interests of both the customer and the contractor.
Rake aboot 4,936
In general the readings should be about the same The main differences will be if different test gear was used in both tests,, there are sometimes slight differences in readings between test meters etc. This would probably be consistant over all the consumer units though. Readings will not have changed noticably in 6 months, Get the lad to restest in front of you and seek an explanation
