Belgian Shepherd

Recommended Posts

Steve Barton kept a few usefull gsd lurchers, Musket/Rooney etc and also did well in the chatsworth comps. Its a cross i think could be very usefull if the right blood was used, i made no secret i wish i had the room to breed a litter of first cross lurchers using my import who was P.T.S this year, i have his son who i may use to produce a litter one day, he pegs rabbits and pheasants regularly and i think would throw high prey pups with some levels of concentration, he is 7 now so we shall see.

One of the drawbacks i think is that often the first cross pups are not also what is usually classed as aesthetically pleasing to the average lurcherman, and dare i say it not an ego dog?????

last part of that post hit the nail on the head, one of the reasons why so many(not all) bull x owned to add few inches to there cocks

Mine being a GSD X has never yapped on any quarry and will bark at stangers,I have had to put under any close protection pressure so I wouldnt be able to say further than that

Simoman You were true in what you say about looks mine wouldnt win a third rossete if ther were Three dogs in the ring,I cant sleep at night worrying about all the rossetes I have missed out on. :whistling:

My Grandson has the show bug now after she one him a second in a Small show with two dogs in the class,Iam still trying to explain it to him he thinks we should now go to more shows.

Mind You I was entering her in the racing where she come a very close third to some very handy dogs and I wouldnt have considered her fit.

In My experience of life dont comment, or critisize something unless You have tried it, or had experience of it I cannot comment on the Mali cross because I have never worked or seen one working,Ihave seen Malis working and they are quick and very prey driven.

I can comment however on the German Shepherd cross as prior to breeding Mine I seen Two working more than Twenty Years ago They were Steve Bartons, which were GSD Crosses not Mali I was very impressed.

Steve is know in Austrailia we still keep in contact via facebook he still owns and works Gsd x and regulary sends photos :victory: for me to admire and envy.

My own first cross Gsd what can I say fast enough, strong enough, courage enough for anything I want, will run along side the quad all day when I am moleing post-5621-0-87370300-1316508488.jpgstamina to burn,a joy to own,the ground I work is a right mix groundenough to test any cross feet wise, hers are as good as any I have seen, training her was a dodlle,

Yes she was a white caught her fair share of game

Took from the pups at four days old so she could do her business in the field to the back of the house had my slippers on and a small torch as you do,she goes off in the dark comes flying past me chasing a rabbit,my immediate reaction was fffffk she has only just had pups, not to worry caught the rabbit as it was trying to get under the gate didnt effect her at all.
