forest of dean redneck 11,563
C'mon tho pal, that black alsation x in my eyes doesnt even look like a running dog I'll say something, perhaps if you were a wee bit smarter, you would realise that 'not even looking like a running dog' can be a distinct advantage. Yours in sport pernod first pic was pup/year old if i remember she turned out like this http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/149683-greyhound-x-alsation/page__hl__%20alsation%20%20cross%20%20greyhound__st__15 but i will bow down to you far superior knowledge charlie perhaps you can enlighten us on your thoughts on the other crosses of lurchers that are around Quote Link to post
forest of dean redneck 11,563
In My experience of life dont comment, or critisize something unless You have tried it, or had experience of it I cannot comment on the Mali cross because I have never worked or seen one working,Ihave seen Malis working and they are quick and very prey driven. I can comment however on the German Shepherd cross as prior to breeding Mine I seen Two working more than Twenty Years ago They were Steve Bartons, which were GSD Crosses not Mali I was very impressed. Steve is know in Austrailia we still keep in contact via facebook he still owns and works Gsd x and regulary sends photos for me to admire and envy. My own first cross Gsd what can I say fast enough, strong enough, courage enough for anything I want, will run along side the quad all day when I am moleing stamina to burn,a joy to own,the ground I work is a right mix groundenough to test any cross feet wise, hers are as good as any I have seen, training her was a dodlle, hey up how drift wasnt it? do you still hear of any of the others. Richie10 345
If they are so good why doesn't more people have them after all the years that people have being using lurchers. Just a question not a criticism. Didn't Plummer rate them? Quote Link to post
heart of wales 19
Why is it whenever someone puts a thread on here reguarding anything other than bull cross you get replys that my dick is bigger than yours I have owned and worked several different crosses saluki bedlington collie bull airdale have been very fortunate to have some good friends top dog men who have owned and worked with these ansd other crosses Deerhounds Labradors .All different crosses all bringing something different to the field some better than others,if You think that your cross is better than any other on all types of terain on all types of quarry hats off to you one in a million. I own my own pestcontrol firm and need a multi purpose dog that is wih me most day and night, doing a variety of tasks,My dog suits me fine Forest of Dean Yes thats drift sevral have kept in touch more than happy I think Steve like Myself bred the cross because he was using an exceptional German Shepherd in the field, which was doing the business and decided to take it further I was fortunate to have the services of a tremendous greyhound to use over her Talking about intrest in the cross whenever a thread like this comes up always get pms about when I am going to breed her,now she has proven herself in my eyes I will be looking to put a good strong whippet over her,but please dont pm will put it up on her when she comes into season Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
Steve Barton kept a few usefull gsd lurchers, Musket/Rooney etc and also did well in the chatsworth comps. Its a cross i think could be very usefull if the right blood was used, i made no secret i wish i had the room to breed a litter of first cross lurchers using my import who was P.T.S this year, i have his son who i may use to produce a litter one day, he pegs rabbits and pheasants regularly and i think would throw high prey pups with some levels of concentration, he is 7 now so we shall see. One of the drawbacks i think is that often the first cross pups are not also what is usually classed as aesthetically pleasing to the average lurcherman, and dare i say it not an ego dog?????
