Sorry to hear you've gone under the knife Jigsaw, hope you're up & about soon.

I think a little immigration is a good thing, a lot of immigration is definitely a bad thing.

I lived in Southampton & it was probably the early seventies when the Bangladeshi's started moving in. Not a few dozen but in the thousands. The moved into the six dials area, where the red light district was & then of course the shops & small business' followed.

I don't remember them ever causing any trouble it was just the amount of them.

In the eighties I worked in Wimbledon & back through Balham, Tooting was solid Asian. I got lost around Hayes once, near to Southall & I thought I'd entered another country.

 

We moved to Ireland in 1986 so I can only imagine what it's like now in those areas. To give you some idea of what is was like here in comparison :

Two blokes talking in Dublin, one says " I saw a black guy walking down Grafton Street " the other says " Sure Lenny Henry must be over again " said by the man himself on The Late Late Show.

 

The situation here with the Polish & eastern europeans is as you say Jigs, caused by the incompetent politicians, namely Mary Harney who said our economy needs them. Yes it did ,for five minutes. Didn't every other country except Ireland & Britain put a quota on the number who could come in. My experience of working with them is they are friendly & hardworking. Many a time I would be lifting boxes around & one of the lads would come up & offer to help. On the day I finished there, the company had closed down, the remaining dozen or so blokes were waiting around the door, which was unusual, they were normally like greyhounds out of a trap, they all lined up to shake my hand & wish me well.

No Goldie,not at all.Im not one for judgeing anyone,sorry if I came across that way.I was hoping for a balanced debate,what I wrote is true,I know some out there have been swindled by Irish etc.I didnt mention travellers(much)in my first post cause it provokes needless remarks over the net which is not doing anyone any good.I just thought a good old topic might be a change from the name calling of late.I suppose the further this goes on the messier it will get.Hopefully not though.

Pauly I lost my job to two of them,and became firm friends with both,Robert invited me out to his country for a free holiday,visit the polish mines etc.I lost contact with him which I regret as he was a fierce nice bloke.Danny the turk is still about.Hes a little distrusting of people but I get on ok with him and meet up every now and again.All they believe in is work,and save for their families.

Just watched my young lad go off with the lurcher with a few mates for a bit of fox bolting,and handed over my terrier to my diging partners for the 1st day of the season for us. AND IM STUCK HERE The anesthetic has worn off now and my inspirational ideas for opics have waned :laugh: I think I'll go mad and make more toast,lol.

I'll tell ye something I did a few years ago,it was x mass time and we went to Santas grotto with the kids.It was situated in a town over 30 miles away so decided to make a day of it. we had our dinner out and did a bit of looking around till the grotto opened.This was mid December,dark days and dark early in the day.We went in with the kids and they met the big man,got their pressies and all was well.After a few hours we decided we better get home and get the screechers to bed.I was approached by an indian bloke,he asked me where he might get a bus to a connecting town from where he was.I didnt know so went into the shop and asked on his behalf,he had missed the last bus.Well what could I do.I threw him into the car,front seat next to me and the wife went in the back with the young uns,drove him almost 20 miles back to where he was going.He tried to pay me for driving him but I wouldnt take it from him,we ended up going back to his house a month later and had a meal from him.He rang to see what wed like and he had it all ready for us.True as God,he was a sound chap.Going to college to be an engineer.Only last july I helped out a traveller whos car ran out of diesel,drove him down to the station,he filled up,drove him back in the opposite direction to where I needed to go.I just didnt want to see him stuck on the road.He had a kid with him.He told me hed throw me a 20 spot for the journey.I had no intention of takingg it but I said yeah sound out.He filled up his tank,told me hed just jump in and get the money out of the glove compartement and at that point I knew what was coming......he fukin drove off.he had no intention of giving me anything.I DIDNT WANT ANYTHING.......but he showed me exactly what kind on tramp he was.Some example fr a young kid to watch?I was brought up to be respectfull to all,no matter what/who.Unfortunately human nature has become a little wharped lately,lol.

i live right on the coast and had a guy last summer who collapsed out side my house wearing a wet suit,i asked him ware he had walked from and he pointed to this boat ,which was about two miles away down this winding coastal slope,he had run out of petrol and had dropped his mobile in the sea,so could,nt call any one,the asked for petrol and did,nt have any so drove him to the garage to get some and on the way there he told me he had no money,but said if you give me your email no ,i,ll pay it into your paypal account when he gets home,so got him petrol took him back to his boat,my grandaughter who was with me ,age 9 said you wont see that again grandad,but low and behold he paid me £40 for a fivers worth of petrol restored my faith in human nature

Good to hear stories like that,I had a mate that was a traveller,we stayed in each others houses in different ends of the country,hed stay with me and I with him.He lined me up with a local shooting man in his area and to this day I still visit,20 years later.Hes filled my van/cars with free turf for the fire umteen times.Ive had more deer than I can recall from him and the terrier work Ive had from the shooting mate of his is unreal,we are due u in a few weeks again.4/5 digs in a day is the norm up there.The one thing I can say is if I need something and cant find it hed be the first I call as hes a genius at that stuff but all legit,hes a very honest bloke.

I think if we capped immigration and took stock of what we have now, deport forein criminals and lock up our own then we could help ourselves and would be in much better shape. We are losing skilled Brits to immigration every day so theres a need to replace them, so why do our nurses need to go to Australia to work? simple because there is a much better quality of life for them elswhere, the same for the forein nurses working here. This is the vicous circle that will destroy our culture and leaving us with old films and books to remind us of how it used to be (bit like mad max, but with subtitles).

 

We need immigration capped now to recoup and start again, forcing us to squash together with so many strangers causes anger not rascism and that will lead to no good in the long run.

I think that, to some extent, the problem is caused when people judge an entire race, creed or section of the community on the racist or bigoted attitudes or views of a minority.

 

As an example: most people don't really have anything against muslims they just have something against racist muslims. Most people who are regarded as homophobics don't really dislike gays...just Elton John!

 

Incidentally, some of my best friends are muslims.

I'm not racist but i do have strong views. I would be called racist for calling a black man a black c**t, or a Muslim a Muslim twat but it's not racist to call a White man a milkbottle or a Protestant/catholic wanker!

 

I was driving to asda yesterday and was sat along side a young Asian guy around 19years old in a suped up mercedes. Then went to

Asda and seen another Asian guy who was walking around with honestly about 9 kids. Went to the checkout and in the que infront of me was this Asian mad shagged with 9 kids and he was on the phone to somebody talking about how he can't afford to buy a new car because he's just paid for a conservatory and his benefits don't go in until Monday.

 

Went outside and seen him getting into a 10plate BMW 4x4. He then packed his car and as I was packing my car his wife turned up in a nice new astra estate. For the rest of the kids.

 

Now am I doing something wrong? Me and my missus work our arses off, 1 baby and a not too bad small car. These fuckers on benefits with 2 cars, new extensions, BMW 4x4, 9 kids!!!

sadly the reality is for any sweeping changes to be made in the immigration question.well imo it would take a terrorist attack on the magnitude of 9/11 for the british goverment to sit up and take notice,and even then i doubt they would have the back bone to do whats needed to address this problem.cause that what it is a major f*****g problem,and if thier not carefull it will split this nation apart.

Genetically there isn't much difference between us,which imo makes racism stupid.

I dont think its the fault of the bloke that has the BMW with the kids Veedublee,hes got that cause he can,I remember talking to a bloke from home a few years ago telling me of him collecting the wellfare for himself and his mate when in London(back in the 70's early 80's) even though his mate was after going back home a few months earlier,and another story of a bloke geting a music system,ie..radio,amplifier,record player,t v.(years ago) on the never never and giving his adress where he lived for years and loading it all up in the car and coming back to Ireland with it the day after geting it.The shop he hire purchased it from just wrote it off as a bad loss he told me.People take advantage of an oppertunity to improve(if you can call it that)their situation,its human nature.You cant blame a whole race for the actions of a few.I think though with Britain now theres so many foreign nationals left in that its impossible NOT to offend some race or creed if the government try to ammend the situation.Our country isnt quiet that bad yet but something has to be done now before its too late.The point I was making though on my first post was,I had a leaning towards not being too keen on foreign nationals in the country but when i saw the doctor waiting to knock me out I put my trust completely in him,I was surprised too afterwards that it didnt take much to change my thinking so to speak.Just wondering origionally how many would have strong opposition to their doc being of foreign race.Just picture caling him a Packi c++t just before he sedates you to cut you up a little ....erm not a good idea?
