it all depends what you call training,, there was one method when snipe was a pup.. that was to tie a dummy 6 foot in the air held on with cotton,, pheshants , never stood a chance, when they popped up in front of him,, and the odd wet partrige, when it cud not get its height,, so when you say well trained, dose this cover all parts of training,,,

3/10 i am only yound my first dog i traind brill i got a pup and i let her down abit as far as retreving is consernd ive got a 14 month old pup of my oldest bitch and fingers crossed shes doing good

 

i learn somthink new every day of the many experenced lurcher people and thats the onl way im going to go forward

me im defo a 3/10 the brother even tho hes an arse hole is 8/10 he can bring the best out in any dog he has had i dont think theres to many 10/10 in the lurcher game

my dog will sit on hand signals (and stays cause to me if a dog is told to sit it shouldnt move till told) will go left or right on hand signals .. come in to the whistle , jump when told , also sit lie and roll over when told and hunt up when told to "go find" but id only give my self maybe a 6/10 because the dog trained himself most of the time ..

 

now with terriers id give myself a 1/10 because i just aint got the patients to work with the little runts lol got one now who will sit and walk to heel when on his lead or chain soon as he is off he listens for the first 10 minutes or so then he is off to do his own thing

Depends on the dog - i have trained 2 GWPs to Field Trial levels and won the highest rating for Spring pointing tests but The second I turn that lamp on i wonder how long it will be until i see my Saluki x again!

A dog i had as a kid done aything i asked and didn't need training done it himself I reckon........ although we did spend every spare hour together which helps.
