my dog is struggleing to mate. i have a gsp who is 4 fit healthy scored so all above bored. bitch came to him yesterday and stood for him straight away but he is all over the place. when he evantually found the right end and not her back leg went thriugh all the motions but unable to hit the mark have had plenty of ejaculations but cant get it in!!! met up twice more today same thing. he is as keen as mustard and she is standing all the time . please any advice would be appreciated. these pups would be beautiful and really want it to happen so i can have one

I have been breeding Springers for years and often find myself on my knees helping out,is this his first time?,are they both the same height?if the bitch is smaller stand her on a raised board,get someone to hold the bitch and you get behind the dog and sqeeze them together to avoid thrusting all over the place and wasting energy,they tire easily.If you are on your own let the dog mount the bitch then gently back them into a corner to squeeze them gently together.If he gets tired remove him to let him rest.Sometimes the best results are achieved by leaving them alone to get on with it but keep an eye on them cos you will have to hold the bitch when they tie.If you are still struggling phone a dog breeder in your area to help out it dont matter what dogs they breed they all do it the same way and be quick cos she wont be ripe for long.

had some sort of luck today managed to get hold of two people who have bred dpgs all but small ones. he did penatrate her today but only inside her for 10-15 seconds then came out squirting. after which the bitch wasnt having any of it. so no tie. both breeders believed it could be enough what do you think?

Its possible but i would want at least two ties to be sure...i had a problem with my dog moving off when i went near him to help. as he sees me as the alpha male he was a little put off so i got the bitches owner to help and moved away from the proceedings until needing to help turn him when tied.....
