Col_c88 41
Hi, I injured my foot beggining of the year and have decided that I should now be looking at a decent boot as my ankle and foot will be weak when it is sorted, Im looking for something that will support my ankle, be warm.. comfortable,, gripy and waterproof and last a long time I will be going walking when this pot comes off (if they dont have to pin my foot) so these boots would be used for walking around the lake district aswell as hunting the type of terrain Im usually on is hilly tough ground, boggy marsh land and forestry Ive never had a decent boot before and just use old work boots but they are so heavy and no good for my foot for long days ferreting or shooting, plus there not very waterproof or comfortable, I've heard Mendl (??) are good, im looking to spend no more than £130 really as we have a child on the way in a couple of weeks so moneys a bit tight but if a boot will last a long time i dont mind £130~ also, how would i go about fitting a boot, do i have to go some size bigger? thanks for your advice Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
Meindl are the best! They do some boots in wide fittings, plus the good ones are lined with memory foam. I've spent a lifetime looking for boots: got dodgy feet: (one got squashed by a horse when I was young) and nothing comes even close to Meindl. Yes, they are expensive, but should last you twice as long as cheaper boots providing you look after them. Quote Link to post
Col_c88 41
Is there any particular one you would recomend.. im looking at the Meindl Softline Men Ultra GTX Walking boot but not sure what i should be looking at Quote Link to post
skycat 6,174
If you have any weakness in your foot/ankle, I wouldn't go for the softer boots: you need maximum support which you'll only get in the much more expensive range I'm afraid. Having said that, the best thing to do is to pay a visit to a Meindl stockist and try on different boots. Try Googling to find your local stockists. Quote Link to post
