Duncan_642 0
if you can afford it go for a landy most things will be pricey due to your age! and i assume you have a budget to buy the 4x4?
Devon 26
Landy's are good, had a great TDi Disco. Wasn't great on fuel, but not bad and you can run em on veggie oil as well (well the older 200 and 300 tdi's you can). Not bad for parts etc and fixing unless it's major like diff etc. Prone to prop shaft problems but again not too expensive when they go. Had a couple of Frontera's in my time as well and really like those as well. Comfortable car for a 4x4 and very underated. Use the old 2.0 8v cav engines socheap as chips to fix and find parts for and not too bad on fuel. TD versions to go for are the Isuzu engined versions. I had the 3 doors and there are acres of room in them and the seats fold flat so pretty much like a good sized van really. Chuck on some nobbly's and they go anywhere a Landy does (just see the one they found at the top of Snowdon last week).

Devon 26
For 6-700 your not gonna get much in a decent Landy bud. Prepare to be throwing money at it all day long. You should get something decent for the £1500 though, especially now as the prices have come down with the price of fuel. Make sure you get one before the bad weather sets in though as prices shoot up. You can get Fronty's dirt cheap, £1500 would probably buy a vehicle and pretty much pay the insurance as well. The Troopers are good vehicles as well, but at 3.0 your likely to be paying the earth in insurance. You could try for a little Suzuki Jimny. 1.3, insurance friendly and with the right tyres and a lift they will pretty much go anywhere a Landy will, just like the old SJ's. Probably in your budget too for an older model.

samearl14 11
Pretty much all 4x4s will cost alot to insure. Believe iv spent alot insuring them. Iv just turned 22 and out of the 8 cars iv had 4 of them were 4x4s. Iv had a landy 90 and 3 fourtraks. Fourtraks are the cheapest to insure iv found so far. Well the cheapest decent truck anyway. Jimnys and vitaras are alot for young drivers despite what the older amongst us may say Also may want to do some more research because i know vans used to be a cheap option to insure but theyre not really these days for young people. Obviously people may dsagree, its just my findings. But being a mechanic doesnt help, the insurance companies do like to charge me through the nose.
