i never come across a vet that will perform an opp like that, if it had a health probs ok but if i told my vet i want them removed because it barks at bunnys he would think i am right nutter.

Is it realy that much of a problem,

if you have other dogs that don't yap, then just keep the yapper for bushing or ferreting,

I had a 3/4 whippet x beddy years ago, and he yapped all his life, at the time it wasnt a problem, but due to a change of circumstances i would not keep a yapper now.

Mines 3/4 whip 1/4 beddy and I was worried about this a bit, she would yap a bit in the day when out mooching with my terrier as she was young and couldn't upto the rabbit. I was careful with the runs I picked for her when first lamping her, and ran her a little over the summer on some easy little uns, she's never yapped on the lamp or the day since.

I think Malts right too in knowing when to stop they're still young and tiredness can cause frustration, yapping.

yapping ive found is normally a trait of bedlington crosses and chances are its to late.

 

for the dog to yap its frustated which means either the dog wasnt fit, entered to young or being run on things it cant catch. ive seen it before when a dog that yapped was properly fit he would stop but as his energy wained he would start again

i/ve seen it also with dogs not at full fitness give a little yap ,but terriers are bred to yap so it could be the bedlington in it ive seen terrier blooded dogs do it seen them get off the lead and get there heads down go off for a nights hunting on there own

have u put it on foxs ? thats what f****d mine up in the end good hare and rabbit dog but soon as i put in on a fox it when all f****d up it like takeing them but yaped on everthink once it starts it just get worse

Gafer, if your sticking with th dog, and it sounds like you are .... Then you can afford to try a few things:

 

Look at the ground you run on, heard pleny of dogs yap on ththeism when the ground is to hard..... It's hard round here at the mo.

 

Take the edge of him before lamping by giving him a decent energy sapping run before lamping. I used to do this with a young bitch I had who used to run like a head strong demon missing too many on the way. First night I tried this, her catch rate doubled and she was sensible all night.

 

Try running him doubled up. It's not for everyone, and it might have the adverse effect, but dogs often behave different when running as a pair, one being more dominant......

 

To be honest, you got nothing to loose in trying anything.......you might get lucky.........maybe even leaving him for another season, having his nads off even.

 

I have never owned a howler, but have heard a lot of different types letting out the odd yip from frustration early in the night, or on shit ground. It's cringe worthy!

the ground is like concreat wher iam pal that will not help he was sliding all over then the gap between the buny and the dog got a bit biger then the yap so it could be not fitt enuf and hard ground bad combo in any ones book but once he is up ther arse nothin from him
