gaffer bit ov retrieving hares

Recommended Posts

Got no problem with it all, and the dog is obviously fit etc. And good to put work in front of it.

But just don't get going out for a big number to see if you can rival someone elses internet claim, so that you will get recognition?

Personally I think he saw the thread and then went out to graft his dog as much as he could........nothing wrong with that.

Not looking to stir up a hornets nest Scent but surely everyone who knows anything about running dogs knows that the lads dog has had to work to an extermely high standard to amass those? Why does it

seen sum 1 had caught 19 hares with to pups on the huntinglife so as the wind was up last night i thought i wud give gaffer a lamp i managed to get 15 flushes to the gun with gaffer managing to shoot

Lepus is a lot more than that and then some

its not about recognition mate its just testing the dog,,, people who think numbers dont count are deluding themselvs,,, cos weather its a bull x, coursing dog , or lamper,,,, you would buy a pup of, parants that had done the biz, that could be 6 out of 6, regular, or 200 fox a season, or 50 60 bunnys a night ..

well done shaun,, and gaffer

Fairplay, not my hares, my dog, or my land, so it ain't my buisness how he kills them, as long as there is no uneccessary cruelty (obviously).

And like i said, dog is obviously skilled and fit, and the owner has put in the time and effort, so good on them both.

Still, it will get some folk out desperatly trying to do 13/14, so they can stick a post up that's '1 better'. And there are some situations where it's not the test of the dog, it's the numbers that are most important, i.e snow or small walled/fenced paddocks where you are stood in the only gateway.

NOT that i am insinuating that Shaun has done the above, but it does happen.

Still, nice to see some actual hunting posts up and about.

great sport lampin hares aint it pal

why not?

why not hunt daytime hares and see if his dog can catch that many lol

some folk chose daytime some folk choose lamping, and hares in there day where fair game on the lamp, why not run foxes daytime? because like the hare there alot easier to find in the dark

And catch.

but aint everything????go and lamp 50 rabbits, then try to it daytime....youll be there all day,ive seen hares taken out there seat on the lamp, ive also seen alot more make decent dogs look like c**ts,decent land i wouldnt call a lamped hare easy

I didn't say it was easy ,I said it was easier to take a lamped hare ,than a daytime hare, and barring the occasional exception, I believe that to be true. Do you disagree?

Rabbits are easier of a night because they sit out farther , reassured by the darkness and, believing themselves safe. Hares are easier because they often panic in the beam, and run blindly note I said often ,not allways.

You will see ten times the amount of foxes about at night that you will of a day time that is self evident, as are the other examples I gave.

Now ,stop splitting hares :bye:
