Not looking to stir up a hornets nest Scent but surely everyone who knows anything about running dogs knows that the lads dog has had to work to an extermely high standard to amass those? Why does it

seen sum 1 had caught 19 hares with to pups on the huntinglife so as the wind was up last night i thought i wud give gaffer a lamp i managed to get 15 flushes to the gun with gaffer managing to shoot

Lepus is a lot more than that and then some

At the end of the day the lad was out in not the greatest of conditions (full moon) so plenty light enough and his dog Gaffer retrieved a fantastic haul.

Very true, it was like daylight at midnight and stuff was very thin on the ground........dont know what it was like where this lad was, but it was very hard going local to me.

Yep,had a look myself Wilf and my mutt worked it's socks off to catch 25 bunnies last night,it wasn't too bad to be honest where i was, pretty light but we had a bit of drizzle and a good wind blowing but further South conditions weren't as good? There must be some easy pleased lurcher owners on THL because if anyone catches a decent haul of whatever it's always "why, what's the point,no need" and such like..it's the dogs that catch the gear that i want my dogs bred off...the majority on here must like their lurchers bred off an oven door and a labrador because they don't seem to like dogs/owners who catch good hauls lol. I always want to chuck as much as I can at the dog (if I think the time is right and it can handle it), plenty of easy stuff early.......then as it gets better/older try and keep pushing the boundrys.........I dont know of any other way to know what you are feeding.

Sometimes, its like last night, soul destroying but you keep saying "one more field, one more field" and your work is cut out but you dont get work for the dog stuck in doors........

now that he has made his point he might be a bit more sporting the next time he goes out

Genuine question here mate,if you were in the market for a lurcher and had the chance to buy the Gaffer dog which has proven it's capable of doing a feat such as this or ANY "ordinary" lurcher that has caught the odd bunny and such on the odd occasion it's been taken out, ifboth were for sale for the same money which would you go for? ATB Andy.

im never in the market for a ready made dog i rear my own and put down surplus...i also woudnt have the need for 12 hares i switch the lamp off if one gets up

why slate others on something you dont do then?genuine question,

its simple i dont agree with killing hares in the lamp its about the only thing in fieldsports that i dont agree with

NOT KNOCKING YOU OR YOUR DOG MATE 1/2 S COOL OVER KILL S DAFT YOUR JUST MURDERING YOUR OWN GROUND.

NICE DOG AND VERY HANDY TO BOOT ALL THE LUCK THIS SEASON/DOESNT LOOK LIKE YOU NEED LUCK THOUGH

GO ON WEE DOG

exactly and we all know why cos the dog probably wouldnt catch half of that daytime if it was the pre ban days

And would your daytime runner been capable of doing that many on the lamp Toby? I'd say more than likely not wouldn't you? Each to their own and all that

Lad off here ( Smartdog) took 17 with his "daytime" runner on the lamp, That to was Sept, jacked in the day on winter hares :cray: No problem with night or day, you get "screamers" in both camps this time of year

9 times out of 10 they pull up down to the owner leaving them in the kennels and jst taking them out when they feel like and expect them to do well or expect them to run as well as back end of last year when there at the most fittest ,people think walking the dogs is keeping them fit there is a difference between walking fit and running fit and looking fit u have to no ye dogs capability and no when ye dog is fit which i no my dog is all year round !!
