HUnter_zero 58 Posted September 11, 2011 Report Share Posted September 11, 2011 Hi all, I've done my fair share of flight ponds and have shot both duck and goose, but am a little concerned over a new venture. I was asked to control a large number of rabbits on a chaps field, basically he owns one field that backs on to the foreshore and it's full to the brim of rabbits. In return he has said I can shoot the ducks and geese as he claims to own the sea wall banking and land down to the high water mark. He had to replace the sea wall banking when he purchased the land. Now, I know for a fact that the area in question is well sown up with an established wildfowling syndicate shooting the foreshore. The landowner has said he has never and never will sell or lease the shooting rights to his bit of wales. My question is, can he possibly own the land on the other side of the sea wall down to the high water mark? He is more than happy to give written permission but this whole foreshore thing is new to me. Any advice would be great. John Quote Link to post Share on other sites
jclay91 12 Posted September 12, 2011 Report Share Posted September 12, 2011 there is no reason he couldnt own it, anyone can buy and own the land or rights over the land although i would want some solid proof before i started wandering onto the marsh with the gun, he should have some plans/maps of his land, have a look at the boundaries! maybe approach the chairman of the club in the area and ask for them to show you there boundaries. ask the local council if they can help you find out. if the farmer owns the land, he may not own the rights to shoot it, land and rights often get sold seperately, so make sure you check who has the rights not who owns the land! best advice...ask everyone, if in doubt dont shoot because it will be you who will land in alot of trouble!! wag 13 Posted September 12, 2011 Report Share Posted September 12, 2011 i would not personally take any advice from here no offence to any of the members .. if your a member of B.A.S.C get in touch with them and ask them about it make them earn your money you give them ..or go to someone who knows about these kind of things .. i would think there would be more to it than just the farmer given you written permission ..you could be getting yourself into more than you bargained for .... and at the end of the day its your FAC and SGC on the line ... good luck and let us know how you get on .... regards wag Quote Link to post Share on other sites
