Pups first night on the lamp!

Recommended Posts

Brought my pup out last night for his first time under the lamp as conditions were good! We decided to bring my mates bitch out for a bit of guidance for the pup but we got off to a bad start as my mates bitch cut her paw with glass on the first slip, which meant the pup would be left to learn on his own!

At first it seemed like a difficult task as he failed to see the first two rabbits, third time was a bit luckier as he spotted the rabbit and got a decent chace, altough he was lacking the final touch and missed it..

This gave us a bit of convidence as we knew the pup was making progress,so we tried a few stubble fields wher he got a few good chases!

After several failed attempts he bagged his first bunny and was the most proudest dog jogging through the field with his new prized possesion in his mouth!

this is wher we ran into difficulty,he would not come anywher near us with the rabbit he would jus run away with it!

Anyone got any tips how to get him out of this habbit??????? :hmm:

If other dogs or people are there it puts pups off bringing it back as it may be stolen from them my pup got his first rabbit last night retrieved live to hand so chuffed with him atb way your pup

my pup did the same first one on the lamp she retrieved live to hand but stopped 2-3 steps away from me ,as i was on the wrong side of the gate(she went through a hedge) i asked my mate to take the rabbit from her while i jumped over and she kept stepping back......so i tried and still she wouldnt come to me so i took the 2-3 steps towards her and she surrendered it no problem, but on another outing i was alone and she came straight to me without stopping. i just hope she grows out of it
