cull or keep?????

Recommended Posts

My dogs are part of the family so they will always be here. Luckily they do a good enough job for me and I'm happy with them. If they couldn't do the job I would make room for another. I'm planning on getting a terrier for bushing but I'm taking my time to find one that will work for me and it will also be a pet.

hi ya depend what you call jack ?? what tackle you hunting for them to jack em on an yes my dogs have jacked at some point there living things not machines no i havent culled i have never culled any d

How many of the folks on here that wont cull have bred from there dogs that they know have jacked ran half hearted and failed ? and did ye sell the pups ? how many of ye were completly honest with the

A lot of problems are caused by folk buying in adult dogs and hoping that it will turn out a good one. Then there are the folk who get a pup and are in too much of a hurry to run different game. Eve

When we rescued Ossie he was in a right state, very thin, in poor condition and had no "Sparkle" to him. Tess was left with us by her previous owner and i took her for a walk whilst he was here and she didn't even give him a second look. Both my pair will be with us till they die. There not world beaters, i don't really care. But they're my world beaters.

Over the years that I have followed the Internet hunting sites, I've read a great deal about folk getting rid of dogs, where as you would like to read about folk who are proud of their canine partners.

Says a lot about the modern lurcherman IMO.

Jackers.......... It should have a wider meaning!

I dont think there is a right or wrong, you cant look down on someone because they love their dog.........thats just plain madness, but at the same time you cant dig a bloke out who wont except second best either, if its not working for him then its not.

The person who will move on has to feed the thing, pay the diesel, clean up the shit so he has every right to make that call IMHO............Its OK rehoming these things, and I have done it twice but only because I was sure and the dog had done nothing wrong,

But if a dog is genuinely not up to scratch, why prolong the agony............and why move it on so that some twat can maybe make a few quid by breeding off of it?

Everybody has their own opinion and morals. My dogs are here to work first and foremost and if they fulfil that task they are then pets also but i could not justify owning a dog that was a 'jacker/jibber/spewer/failure' call it what you want as a pet alone, come the winter time it wouldn't have any time spent with it at all. If i didn't work the dogs i probably wouldn't have any in the first place. If any of my dogs didn't make the grade they would have to be culled, no ifs no buts, i wouldn't want to give it to someone else to work it on what it didn't jack on because that person could then potentially think that the dog is awesome and that i was spouting shite and breed off it and produce more shite, i also wouldn't want to give them to a pet home either as most 'pet' people have obese dogs that never leave the sofa being fed biscuits and tea allday and then also potentially breed off it. By being culled you know where the dog ended up for good. Just my opinion, my dogs are my dogs, no one else gets invovled with them so what i do with them is up to me to deal with.

sounds harsh coming from a female that well you must have bigger bollox than me lol lol lol

Couldnt cull a dog that u classes as my own. If the dog doesn't do what u intended it for then IMO it's your responsibility to keep or rehome it and get a dog that does do the job. Don't see how people can work their bollocks off training and bonding with a pup and when it doesn't turn out put a bullet in it. Theres always somebody that would like a pet and that's where the peddlars come in. Vicious circle but the very least you can do is break your back to make sure it's looked after. Culling is not the way but that's just my opinion
