Spent nearly all of last year on tesco jobs ( and one huge waitrose cold store), now ther's a recession tescos put stores up cause they know they'll get a cheaper price. We do industrial roofing and cladding this was all single ply roofs and fridge panel walls, I had at one point 18 lads running + me and my brother , The firm we were subbing to got knocked and subsequently so did we for 42k. It's put a huge strain on our business we didn't have enough in writing for extras we were pushed to do, and I'm still fighting for it now. With all my heart I want to go into their offices and smash 7 shades of shit out of all of them but it wont get me nowt. At some point we'll sit in some shit meeting and get offered a settlement figure probably not even half of what we're owed. And the one who's pulling all the strings at the top of the tree is tesco's there a bunch of w*nkers.

Last time someone tried to withhold payment, for a job (done for cash) I went through the wiring with pliers till he paid,, then charged him to repair the damage I had done,,

That was many years ago,, don`t do jobs onthe side now,, not worth the hassle..

 

As for Pakistanis,,, Yes it seems racist etc,, but having worked for a few nationalities,, I can honestly say,, I NEVER deal with Pakistanis,,at all,, they are horrblie ignorant rascist people,,,, all of them,, they hate our guts,, so why the hell would I have anything to do with them,,

 

My kids and there friends all asked me to help buy their cars,, and it took 5 trips to see cars sold by Pakistanis, to conivince them I was correct,, and that they should NEVER be dealt with,,

I know this as my good old neighbour who works from home would clock their times. They would bugger off (probably to quote or finish other jobs) drink lots tea and read the paper all day. The work was never getting completed. I Didn't put up with it any longer. Collected their tools and on the village green they went with a phone call politely telling them to not come back, and no they didn't get paid for the work they did. It's a cilvil matter, and I was more than willing to pay to go to court and feck them over...they soon reliased the reality of their poor customer service.

I used to do a lot of farm work and I can guarantee you, you wont find worse payers than them. They have every excuse in the book.

Thankfully it was usually hundreds of pounds, not thousands.

And I always got it in the end.
