Born Hunter 17,812
Some of them are just that stupid this time of year. Ive seen some that you literally have to shout at to get em to lift their heads. They deffinately were not released fox, just stupid cubs that have never seen a lamp as the land it was on we dont touch the foxes. 1 Quote Link to post

martin 332
Some foxes just don't seem to care when a lamp hits them lad,it happens a fair bit,it's then that you need to be able to stop them in their tracks to get a shot off. M Quote Link to post

tegater 789
A couple of years ago, me and my young lad had been out early decoying crows one Sunday morning. We packed up about 11.15 and started walking down the long track back to the motor. When we were about 150 metres off, I could see that there were a couple of other cars parked near mine, which is not unusual, as a bridal path goes off in another direction, and is popular with walkers. I then see this fox slip under the wooden gate, and start trotting up the track towards us. I grabbed my lad by the arm, and whispered "charlie". We squatted down with our backs to the dry stone wall, and I took aim with my 20 bore. Now I realised I was going to let this get close, as I only had 5's in, and luckily it just kept coming and coming, without even pausing to sniff anything. I shot it from about 3 metres. This again wasnt a cub, judging by its teeth, and I can only think it had been put up from somewhere else by a dog or person. By now this was 11.30 in the morning in September! One thing it showed my lad who was only 8 at the time, was that good field craft, i.e. spotting things early and then keeping still and blending in, pay off at times. ( and bucketfulls of luck!!) 1 Quote Link to post
Deker 3,478
It happens as Martin said, sometimes they just don't care, probably many different reasons why, one of course is that they can get very used to normal traffic headlights! Quote Link to post
