black-spring 18
jap imports are normaly in good condition and have a few more extras, but some have less rust proofing there are a few other small differances. nothing to worry about. auto's in the 300 are ok, the later ones are fly by wire (no throttle cable) and have an engin managment system. manuals are less complicated and typiclay better on fuel. (autos are only 4 speed). Quote Link to post

I like your thinking, the defenders seem big money for what the are, my mates got one and it seems like you sit too close to the window, doesnt seem like theirs any shoulder/elbow room, the discovery seems to have a bit more comort! Hi mate, yes I seen the one on Top Gear, it was unreal what it put up with. The reason i'm looking at a Disco is it seems you get can get them for decent money and they seem to have a few extras, ie electric windows, cruise control etc. Quote Link to post
black-spring 18
The best thing about the old land rovers is there are so many places that do spares and up-grades at good prices, the sky is the limit for mods. For lamping and running the hounds about the disco will always be better than a defender as it is far more car like, the transfer box is also set at a higher ratio so better on the motorways, (you can get far more in the back of a disco with the seats down than a 90) get a disco ,raise it by 50mm then throw a good set of tyres on it go and play. photo of the last one i built, sold to a member on here. NEWKID 27,316
I wouldn't go for a shogun or pajero mate had 2 pajeros and 1 shogun over the last 10 years and each one the engine blew, The last one is sat on the drive dead all seem to have a problem with the head and end up on the side of the road in a steaming like a huge kettle. Think I'd go for a toyota or landy personally, depending on money. Quote Link to post
