For some reason I was at home and Watched it live on T.V. Sureal !! phoned the Wife at work to tell her to get to a T.V. The whole day was mindnumbing bit like Kennedy in the 60s I'll always remember where i was .A wee peaceful cottage in Neilston .My heart goes out to the people that are still suffering,The fallout of Dangerous contaminments from the buildings are in alot of Lungs NOW !! andyfr1968 772
Someone I know lost a brother when tower 2 came down. The paragraph below is something that's doing the rounds on Facebook, but I think it's kind of relevant on here too.... SO SAD!!!!!: New York City Policemen & Firefighters are "NOT INVITED" to the 10th anniversary of 9/11 at Ground Zero. The Mayor claims "there isn't room for them".... Funnily enough, they weren't "invited" on that fateful day in 2001 either.... THEY JUST SHOWED UP AND DID THEIR JOB! re-post if they deserve to be there *more than* the politicians! Shame on them Edited September 9, 2011 by andyfr1968

It's a feckin' disgrace

Hannah4181 260
I was in the middle of the African Bush tracking Rhino when we heard via the radio, i was travelling with 3 american guys at the time and 1 of them lost a friend who worked in the Tower . . . . . i'll never forget the anguish of that day, it took us 2 days to get anywhere where we could find out the true magnitude of the story, and what a shock when we did. I was in New York on the anniversary in 2007 . . . . we visited ground zero and i can't quite explain the effect it had on me. Being there and seeing the narrow streets enclosed by huge buildings, you can't even imagine the sense of deverstating panic those poor souls must of felt on that day. Awful. Lab 10,979
No idea if this has anything to do with that but watched the Firefighters story this week and it explained how they dont get on with the New York police. Maybe they are worried after a few beers a riot will spark out and marr the 10th anniversary. Only a theory...... Still shocking that the people who risked there live for others are not welcomesd with open arms.......
SNAP SHOT 194
Just saw the news there too, and they reckon that there may be a plot to car bomb NY on the 11th... security is gonna be very heavy, Its a shame that the emergency services don't or won't get the respect they deserve for their efforts on that fateful day.... They should be the ones wth the front row seats not some member of goverment and his/her cronies
gnasher16 30,470
I find it hard to believe the American government would be willing to offend so many everyday American citizens by not inviting Fire/Policemen.......cant see it myself. I have a bit of a morbid fascination with the whole 9/11 thing....so many unanswered questions,so many incredible stories.....not sure we,ll ever find the real truth but certainly an interesting topic.

TOMO 26,798
i think we all remember where we were that day, the sheer horror watching people jumping , then the towers coming down... been watching it all this last week,, even got my 8 year old to watch so she could understand how awfull it all is. evrytime i watch a new program , theres more tv footage i havent seen, like this week there was maybee 8 or 10 people all jumping at once,, wich was realy shocking to watch, i always thought what a decision to make, to jump from there, rather than burn.... and any adult knows theres no chance of surviving a jump of that hight. terrible day
