Don 5
Hi Lads & Lasses, I'm wanting to buy a 4 x 4 to do a bit of lamping with and also as a general hunting vehicle, i.e carry lurcher in, guns etc, I'm not mechanically minded so I'm not exactly sure what to go for, so i was hopeful that you fellow hunters could maybe give me your opinion.and advice. I've got a budget up to £2000.00. Thanks in advance!

Had the same dilemma a few months ago ended up with a SWB Pajero, well impressed with it, bit thirsty but you get plenty of vehicle for your money. The other alternative I would have had was a Isuzu Trooper but the Paj came up at a good price. To be honest it's been reliable and not needed a penny spending on it and I use it weekly a shooting wagon.
Don 5
My mate had a LWB K reg Pajero and he seemed happy with it, I do like the look of the Isuzu trooper though, I'm wanting something that doesnt look ancient but I realise that I'm only spending 2k so have to be realistic as well, seen a R reg Toyota Landcruiser Commercial for sale at £1995.00, ice motor but went straight away I've heard there a bit thrsty though! shamus 36
i have driven troopers for years but the newer 3.0 version is best avoided. You can get the 3.1 up to an r or s reg. They are reliable and you get about 25mpg which is about as good as any 4wd. Do check for chassis rot, especially around the rear end.

Thanks for the advice, their was a 7 seater 3.1 TD on a S plate for £1895 that I thought was reasonable but it had already sold!
