Black gold cartridges. Anyone used them?

Like it says above really. Mates got a big lot of these in 30g 6s, wondering if anyones got any experience of them before i buy a few.

32 g 6 Black gold is all i use ....very good carts apart for geese and its 36 0r 42 gr bufallos

I've been using 32g 5s fast, expensive but very good. Will stick with them I think

Used their Clay variety when they first came out and wasn't very impressed.

 

The game shells I tried in 30gr 6 about three years later and a vast improvement. Certainly up with the better shells

Top cartridge more expensive than most but you will get more in the bag ,I would say its increased my shot to kill ration by 10%.

I've used them but didn't like them, bit to fast I felt, I stick to RC sipes 32grm 5's or 4's, they hold a good patern and kill very cleanly, horses for courses I suppose.

When I spotted this topic I was hoping that someone would say "crap", now I only have my own skills to fault (thank the lord for that someone did, just before I posted).

 

I was recommended Black Gold three years ago(?), so like a fool I rushed out and purchased 250, I still have four or five boxes left. In both my shotguns I can not hit a bloody thing with black gold. I am sure I read that the shot was a different shape, well not my my lot. I'm not impressed and will not be buying anymore. I'll stick to GP's.

Well i have been using Sipes, usually 32g 6s and find them pretty good. Just wondered if it was worth trying the black golds. Seems most people rate them.

I'm 100% sure it's worth giving them a go. The chap who told me about them was having fits, couldn't speak highly enough about the cartridges. Might be too fast for me, tried them on clays and still no joy.

 

Not sure you can get a better cartridge than good old Grand Prix IMHO.

Classic cartridge that has stood the test of time.

I can remember picking up spent GP cases in the quarry long before I even had a SGC. Just a good all round solid dependable cartridge.

Like you not being able to shoot with the Black Golds John, i've never had any success with GPs.

 

I still have about 20 unopened boxes of GPs, older ones with chrome brass and never really hit anything with them.
