hot pike lures for 2011

just wondering what every one will be putting in their lure box for this season.

 

will you be sticking to an old favourite or purchasing some hot of the shelves lures that are out there now.

 

personally i will be using my lucky mepps #7 and a few savage gear 4play hard lures

but i have also just ordered from harrissportsmail.com some savage gear minnow kit and cannibal shads to try and get to the fish deep deep down.

Mepps spinners are always with me aswell as a few savage minnow types when out piking,& if all else fails then try a dead roach & use as you would use normal lures

i like the look and action of the soft lures but i have it in my head that if a good pike got hold of it and gave it a good thrashing that there would not be much left of it ..

I have several of the medium sized ones and have only had 1 tail bitten off but that had caught a few fish and had been repaired prior to that. They are really good and tough unlike bulldawg type lures which split for fun!

Ive had a few of the tails biten off when luring & i read a artical in ''pike&predators'' &they just added a trace wire to the main hook wile sticking the treble end into the tail .

was really impressed with the savage gear stuff last year especially the hard 4-plays, brilliant action

rapala super shads raps they all ways work for me on lakes or drains bull dawgs also a bit steep in price but you pay for quality

Rapala shads, ondex spinners seem to work for me though i cant claim to have a great deal of experience at piking

Just been given a squirley burt to try ( sounds like it'd make your eyes water ) interesting to see how it' will do

Savage Gear seems to be decent tackle from what i have seen this year...
