Guest born to run1083
I'd say she locked up on you from loss of water or electrolytes it can cause shock symptoms and can make them go into a world of there own. can usually get cramp as well to go with it. when it happens they look like they've had way to many pints in the pub and can't really stand and when the do there wobbling like no tomorrow Quote Link to post

rolysmate 49
Try the electrolytes mate, carry a little squirty bottle and you can squirt some into her mouth between runs Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
The fact that her jaws were clenched does sound more like some kind of convulsion that just plain low blood sugar levels. If the bitch is used to running the same amount as she ran last night, under similar conditions (temperature etc) and she's usually fine, I'd be concerned about a fit. The other possibility is an electric shock from a fence, but I'm sure you'd have known if there were electric fences in that area? Wouldn't you? I've also seen that kind of thing in an otherwise fit dog which was carrying a virus: this was on a hottish day, and out ferreting: not doing a huge amount, but after a few runs the dog collapsed and went rigid for a few moments. Turned out he'd had bad diarrhoea the previous day: so had lost a lot of fluid. Dog was fine after a good drink of Recharge, but wasn't allowed to work again for a couple of days until he'd got the bug out of his system. Quote Link to post

old real tree 92
this happened to my bitch lasy year, exactly the same, its a lack of sugar in the blood, my bitch only normally goes lamping for 2-3 hours max and always runs on the slip, but this time i travelled up country to lamp with a guy off here who goes out for all the time its dark, 6 or 7 hours when possible lol... so after a good few hours lamping she started slowing up and aventually collapsed to the ground, i thought i had lost her but i now know to feed her a few hours before i go out and give her a snack about half hour before she starts, hope this helps ort Quote Link to post
