john b 38
I was looking through book on animal tracks last night and came across this illustration of how a rabbit runs which I thought might help other novice snarers visualise Snaremans instructions on snare placement and height. You can clearly see how the head and neck extend as the backlegs strike and push off. [ I've moved the yellow line in as per Snareman's post JB] Edited March 20, 2007 by john b Quote Link to post

I meant that they don't have that posture really - like that of a hare, but maybe it was a stylised drawing anyway. There are sufficient pics on this forum of rabbits running with ears up for me not to mean that, perhaps I didn't explain it too well OTC Quote Link to post
snareman 3
the yellow line should be in front of the first rabbit , as its front feet are landing on the first half of the beat , thats why the snare loop is set directly over the middle of a small beat , as rabbit,s back feet come down along side the front ones his feet are under the loop and his head is in it and caught as he leaps to next beat , ive seen it happen on numerous occasions , the rabbit is caught so fast it happens in a fraction of a second . hope this helps.
