jamie7344 250
where do people think the most testing land to run a hare is ie grass paddocks, clay, blackland, sandy land????? i personally think if you put a good hare up on the black its more testing for a dog than on any other land and wouldn't keep a dog that couldn't stop them on it what does everyone else think??? iceman001979 1,316
A good dog should kill them in all this places and not just in the places that suit them.Never been to England too run hare just what l have seen on you tube just seems that a dog has all the time in the world to kill hares in the big open land.In Ireland you don't have that much time there too many gates.ditches, bogs, farms, etc etc what the hare can use to get away. speedie 329
This is going to be good .I have seen dogs on the fens and the black land and of course in ireland and I.M.H.O big fields are the real test for a dog in that they have room to run the hare but the hare has an escape .So the hare tends to keep the revs up in atempting to get to the escape and it doesnt turn to a slow slogging match . jamie7344 250
if you get right in the middle of the fens the dogs do have more time than on a paddock. but grass land dont take as much out of a dog as clay or peat, and whose to say when u do get a hare in middle of the fens that your dog as got more wind than the hare, not all about stamina and people think there not a bit of cover on the fens..........i was out all last year with a fella with a good little bitch good killer anyway............we were gettin 3/4/5 min runs he was gettin 30 second runs and missing um.......why? becasue the bitch wasn't good round cover Quote Link to post
