J Darcy 5,871
Had a good walk and training session with col today. He is still noisy in the kennel and i have tried many different things, all have failed. Still i live in hope that he quietens down. Took a few piccys today : #1... I use a cube of luncheon meat as a small yet tasty snack for colins training. Here he sits and waits for his treat. If he tries to double guess me i dont give him anything. I always vary the routine and recall to hopefully avoid the pup thinking too far ahead. Nothing worse than a smart arse....and this goes for pups too. #2 Here i am trying to get col to "Lie". i have made him sit and yet wont give him the food, until...... #3 he follows my hand down and lies without him knowing. He tried to double guess me the next time and ley down when i said "sit"...so he didnt get a treat.... #4 here col carries a rabbit skin covered dummy for a few hundred yards. i stop every 50 yards and stroke him while he holds it. I never associate any food with this action as i do not want him spitting the dummy out for food. i want him to carry, carry, carry. #5 we then did a bit of heal work. God he can pull! It took a good while but the whole pulling thing had started to sink in...i bloody hope!!! #6, starting to listen to "Heal" #7 here col shows his tolerance to passing traffic, sitting oblivious to the cars rolling by. He doesnt really care much as you can see. Col is never going to be a "scooby", but i shall hopefully enjoy training him never the less...... Quote Link to post

dickyboy 1
Would you say scoobys the best dog you'll ever own? as in nothing will compare? Just asking as i had a pet dog when younger and it would not be fair to compare any dog to him ever as they won't ever be like him, my once in a lifetime dog.....would have been a good worker had i been into it!!
