comanche 3,077
I remember seeing what looked like a burning missile light up the sky early one winter evening . It passed over ,turned sharply and accellerated into oblivion in an upwards direction. I was standing in the farm yard talking to Dennis The Head keeper. He was a real characature of the dour Yorshireman . Not a man given to expressions of delight or surprise . Well ,this thing rocked us both . Even Dennis was moved to comment ."That were no ******* shooting star,an I've********* sin a ******** few". Was his immediate reaction. A day or two later I was listening to local radio on in the land Rover and a lady phoned in to the station describing exactly what we'd seen and asking it was a shooting star or meteor . Apparently there was no record whatsoever of anything of interest over the skies of Sussex . Not even a meteor shower . A classic bit of spookyness that turned out to be explainable occured when i wasa teenager . I was almost home from work when I met my mum , also on her way home . It was a black winter night and as we lived on the edge of town street lights were at a premium . Suddenly we heard the sound of a horse clip-clopping towards us . We stared into the gloom but saw nothing .Yet the noise indicated that the horse was fast approaching and we could'nt understand why it had'nt appeared in view . On it came . Mum and i stood our ground muttering to each other . The reason for the noise became apparent when a pair of foxes came past fawning and snapping at each other's jaws . A classic bit of "clicketting" ! . Quote Link to post
kernow oli 28
Great thread people, best I've read on here for a while!! A friend of mine was walking his dogs back through our local woods which are part of a large estate, he walked along a path which I had walked a few times myself, it is partially covered by large trees and is fairly dark even on a bright day. The path comes around a sweeping bend with high 6-8 foot banking on one side and a low 3-4 feet wall (with only one gap)bordering the woods on the other, as he passed the only gap in the wall he said that he noticed two figures walking on in front, even one of his dogs pulled towards them, as they both rounded the corner the figured turned off the path, into the bank?? He said he reached the point at which they disappeared and it was solid bank with a slight indent where there may once have been an opening?? Now I know this chap well and he has walked this path many times, but won't any more after that encounter on the spooky side??!!! Weird!! Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
A truly entertaining thread fellas; sadly my only spooky times out in the fields have been down to my own fertile imagination and watching 'Dogsoldiers' before rabbiting at dusk. Erudite as I can be, I can honestly say that hearing what sounded like heavy claws on the roof of a dutch barn a few feet above me really sh1t me up for a while - no silver bullets!
