top night out

Perfect weather last night so me and a mate decded to long net a field on his permission and give the dogs a lamp as well.

Set the nets in galeforce winds at around 10pm then went back to the van to get the dogs. Took my pup and my mates experianced dog flicked the lamp on and saw a few rabbits bolt to the net 1 sat and my pup put it up ran it for about 30 secs and nailed it in the middle of the field we had 9 in the nets and 1 to the pup .

picked everything up and away to the van left my pup there, and took my mates 2 dogs out accross the rest of the permission we had another 10 around there.

The weather was too good to stop so drove to another bit of permission about 30mins away, and let the pup have a few runs she nailed 1 after a great run and my mates 2nd year dog had 2 more.

Really pleased with how mine ran just got to get the retrieve sorted, she caught from a long slip and went straight down the beam each time, I'm buzzing about this season.

ended the night with 23, the nets accounted for 9 and the dogs put 14 in the bag between them, great start to the season.

Got in at 4am and was up at 7 30am for a on site meeting, feel knackered but happy.

nice one kev glad the pup is doing the job for you i was out last night with a mate we had 23 but theres a bit of mixie about still all fur in the mouth for my pup atb billy

Nice one Bill, I bet you'r well chuffed.

Yeah she was good last night. We saved her a bit for the 2nd bit of permission as the thy're smaller fields. But the grass was a bit too long in a few of the fields, so I wish we had ran her more in the first bit, but that's life.

There was no mixy at all in those last night I've only had a couple over the summer as well, hopefully be a good year.

yes mate was good night out again tonight if its still windy we had about 15 good rabbits so not all bad the pup had 12 ran like a good un well pleased atb

Well don Zac Good luck tonight mate, I might venture out again tonight, ferreted sunday and out last night till late so might give her a night off......... it's just this wind is forcing me out.

well done pal i was out last night only got 6 rabbits but my dog was running well so pleased with that had to call it an early night though cause of the heavy rain and lack of waterproofs atb for the season pal

Sounds like someones had a great night! Better than what i've been having lately!

Rabbits being conspicuous by their absence. But still, nice to get out and about.

I 've got those stinging eyes today having gotten to bed late (early?) but the weathers the best it's been so far this season so can't sit in at home when the winds whipping the trees about. All the best....JD

J Darcy: I know what you mean about stinging eyes, I'm trying to price work but the head aint there......... and the winds up and I got a load to do tomorrow...Why does work always get in the way.
