Shes coming back!

Recommended Posts

Darent get too excited but after this mornings stroll through the early Autumn wind and rain my young pup Annabel who is coming on so well is now coming back to me without me calling. Aside from the usual galloping/hunting around, she picked out 3 or 4 things she wanted to chase. I just stood stock still an after each run, waited for her to return, only once she had a sniff before returning.

I always have a treat in my right hand and I find holding it by my side she returns to that hand each time. Early days but its a promising start.

Just got to get her coming back with something in her mouth now, her retrieval aint so great, patience me thinks!

She's 7 months, currently 21" to her shoulders and 15kg/2 stone, these were taken at 6 months; Im not sure of the cross, I think she is grey x deer but Im not sure what else. I was told she had some Saluki but Im not certain of that.

No, she is a rescue dog. Had a rescue lurcher before and it was all i could do to keep it in the same county as me once it was off the lead. This one was found lost up North at 5 months. She has none of the usual rescue dog traits though. Im amazed by her natural thinking and canny nouse. She can be cheeky and a bit too clever sometimes but Im hoping Im onto a good dog and looking forward to training us both onto lamping and lure coursing in time to come.

At the moment, Im just letting us find our ways together. Her sit/stay is improving and recall is too. Blown away really.

Thanks for the compliment on the dog!
